New Certification - Electric Signs

UL's General Coverage Electric Sign program allows manufacturers to produce custom sign constructions without submitting samples to UL for testing.

Manufacturers produce signs while following established criteria, including using UL Certified and/or Recognized components that may have defined conditions of acceptability and/or spacing requirements. This criteria is outlined in our Standard and covered during training. The Standard will be provided to you after quote acceptance.

The applicable standard used in this certification is: UL 48 STANDARD FOR ELECTRIC SIGNS UL Standards Library.

Training

As part of the General Coverage certification, you will be required to attend the Signs UL 48 Online Curriculum through UL Knowledge Services. This curriculum consists of a series of course modules that cover the certification program, and the safety requirements in UL 48. Each individual who completes the course is qualified as a Manufacturer's Technical Representative (MTR). The UL Electric Sign program requires your factory to have at least one trained Manufacturer's Technical Representative (MTR) who is directly involved in the safety and quality assessment of your signs.
